Closing the gallery year is the summer exhibition ‘A Soft Gather’. With cues to fabric, folds, drapes and weaves, a changing selection of works by Gallery artists spans sculpture, painting, works on paper, textile and assemblage. To gather not only a references a bringing together. It also conjures the drawing in of material and the structure of garments. ‘A Soft Gather’ is an exhibition gentle in its intent allowing gallery visitors to view a parade of profound and polished contemporary art. An intentionally soft rather than strident gathering of form and concepts, representing as it does, the divergence of contemporary art as practiced by our artists.
